After months and months of experimenting and testing and so much more, Stambry's is proud to announce our new perfume line "The First Ladies of Quincy" the first is Abigail's Garden. After Abigail Adams A true first lady and wife of President John Adams and mother of President John Quincy Adams. Abigail loved her home in Quincy Ma. Her home is called "Peacefields". It is a beautiful estate on Adams St. in Quincy Ma. On a visit to England Abigail brought back roses and wisteria, these plants still bloom on the estate every year. To honour Abigail and her beautiful gardens, "Abigail's Garden" is a floral perfume with hints of Roses and Wisteria, it is in a victorian amotizer bottle.
"Dorothy Hancock" was a relative of Abigail, and lived very near Abigail. Dorothy Quincy Hancock was the wife of John Hancock. Her perfume is a little musky with a hint of Violets. It invokes memories of days gone by.
Both perfumes can be seen and ordered here: http://www.scmsoaps.com/BrowseProducts.aspx?DepID=1
There will a third perfume Lousia Catherine, another first Lady and wife of President John Quincy Adams. Not sure what this scent will be, but we are thinking apples or cranberries, something very New England.
In the meantime we are experimenting with our Men's line. Or maybe we'll call it our Presidents line! We are the city of Presidents after all!
We are a 12+ yo company that manufactures and sells bath & beauty products. We have a store @ 1359 Hancock St. Quincy Ma. 02169. and we do farmers markets in Weymouth & Georgetown Ma, St. Albans Vt. We also do a smattering of fairs each year.

Children's Sweaters
We carry children's sweaters that are hand crocheted or knitted. These are done by Cathy's Creations. Cathy has a variety of sweaters in the Irish Aran style. They are the most beautiful I've seen. They are reasonably priced at $40 in sizes 1 through 8.
We put these sweaters on the floor a week ago and they are selling well! Not only are they selling but we are taking orders for them right and left. If you have a child that you would like to give a sweater for please let us know because she will need time to get them made and Christmas is right around the corner, so you will want them in time!!!!
Well customers are arriving so I will have to go for now!

Sunday August 1st!
Well today is the last day for the Franklin County Field days! Not looking forward to the 4 1/2 hour drive home, when all is done! Have to be at the store for 9:30am tomorrow. Going to be interviewed by the Quincy Sun! Can't wait, all the extra advertisements should help even more.
Right after the Grand Opening on Wednesday August 4th, I need to start working on my lines of perfumes. I think the Quincy Breezes scent I have developed will do well as a perfume. It has quickly become my biggest seller of all the scents.

Our Soaps
At Stambry's we make several different bar soaps. We offer a variety of scents. We can custom make soaps for anyone. If you prefer soaps with certain base oils or essential/fragrance oils we can meet your needs.
Do you have allergies to certain products? We can make sure that those are not used in your soaps.
Special orders of soap take 4 weeks from start to shipping.
After the soap is made, it must sit for 4 weeks to cure and have the saponification process to complete (actually it takes almost a year to complete the saponification process, but 4 weeks to the usable stage). Curing is where the water used in the soap making is allowed to evaporate from the soaps. This gives you a long lasting, hard bar of soap. The saponification process is where the lye/water and the oil/butter solutions are mixed and as the lye reacts with the oil/butter is changes chemically to produce soap. It take approximetly 3-4 weeks for this process to slow down enough that it is safe to use on your skin. We wouldn't want anyone to be using a lye heavy soap, that would not be safe.
One note though. We do have "unscented" soaps. What this means is that there is no added scents (such as essential or fragrance oils). Many of the oils and butters have a "natural" scent that will stay with the soaps such as Cocoa Butter, and Hemp or Neem Oils. In order to get these oils with no scents they would have to go through a chemical process, this process would add trace elements of the chemicals used, and may even affect the effectivness of the properties you are trying to achieve. Stambry's will not use these products. We try to keep all our products as natural as possible. Though we use organic oils, herbs and essential oils as much as possible. We are not "certified" organic as this is a very lengthy and costly process.
We specialize in two different types of soaps, vegan based and animal based (lard).
Naomi (my late partner) specialized in lard based soaps. This type of soap has a very nice stable lather and great cleansing/moisturizing properties.
In Naomi's soaps we have a variety of scents, though you of course can request almost anything. Her soaps contain Coconut, Sunflower, Olive and Lard as well as Cocoa Butter.
One of Naomi's best sellers was her Baby soap. This is a very mild soap, great for baby's sensitive skin.
We also carry Naomi's Fruitti Patooti soap, this is Patchouli essential oil and fruit fragrance oils.
We also have Naomi's facial bar, this is her basic recipe with Bentonite Clay for a mild micro-abrasion, and the essential oils of Rosewood, Carrot and Geranium. These three oils are historically used as anti-aging products.
We offer three different versions of our vegan soaps. Using oils and butters from Coconut, Olive, Hemp, Castor, Palm Kernel, Sunflower, Safflower Oils, we also use Cocoa, Shea and Mango butters.
These can be in many combinations, our best sellers are Lavender (Lavender Essential Oils, Ground lavender buds, herbal coloring), Lavender & Oatmeal, Our Sea Dragon Line, Rosemary & Spearmint (Rosemary and Spearmint Essential Oils, Ground Rosemary & Spearmint herbs, herbal coloring), Oatmeal Milk & Honey is always a favorite (made with local Honey!).
Our Sea Dragon Line is our Signature Line. It is Patchouli based.
Sea Dragon - Patchouli essential oil
Sea Dragon's Blood - Patchouli and Cherry
Sea Dragon's Tears -Patchouli and Blueberry
Sea Dragon's Breath - Patchouli and Vanilla
Sea Dragon's Dream - Patchouli and Amber
Sea Dragon's Love - Patchouli and Black Love (type)
Sea Dragon's Fire - Patchouli and Cinnamon and Ginger
We also do a Facial bar similar to Naomi's but all vegan based.

Welcome to Stambry's!
We started the Company over 12 years ago, because my daughter was allergic to most soaps and other products on the market.
We started trying to make our own soaps, experimenting and researching what would be best for her skin. In doing so we ended up with many different types of soaps, we gave out bars to our friends, neighbors and anyone else we could think of. After a few years, we had so much soap, that we decided to sell at farmer's markets. They sold well, still have repeat customers from those first days so many years ago!
In our research, we joined a few soaping groups on line, networked and learned how to make other products, soon I was making lotions, and salves. My daughter suffers from migraines, I developed Amber's Headache Remedy for her and it helped her! She could take it to school and use it when needed and not get in trouble for having "drugs" on her.
Liquid soap was probably the hardest for me to learn. Worked hard and tossed many bad batch!!!! Today it comes out flawlessly!!! Great for your hair! This was all while living in Vermont.
In 2007 while going through a divorce, I decided I really wanted to go back to NH! I have always loved it there, had a great circle of support, a fellow soaper (Naomi Funchion) I'd been befriended by and I decided since we were going to be living in the same area, that instead of competing against each other we would merge our two companies. We came up with the new name Stambry's Crescent Moon Soap Co. My company had been Stambry's Bath & Beauty Products, Naomi's was Crescent Moon Soaps. Our business plan was almost completed, we were pretty much all set, all we were waiting for was for me to actually move from Vt. to Derry NH.
Naomi and I were fast friends, spoke several times a day, shared recipes, (both soaps and food!), talked about the kids etc...
On August 7th 2007 I recieved a call from Naomi's husband Gary. It was a call that broke not only my heart but the soaping worlds. Naomi had been in an accident and had passed away.
Though I did manage to complete the merge of the two companies with the family's blessing. It was a good two years before I made soaps or any products again.
In the early spring of 2009 I met my new partner, in life and now in business. Steve got me excited about the business again. Though at first it was still hard, waiting for the phone to ring everytime I put the lye solution into the oils, and started the stick blender. Naomi had that uncanny knack of calling at that percise moment! I miss her so much.
Well Steve and I started making soaps and products again, well I did most of them, as over a year later he is still learning. We did some farmer's markets, and craft fairs. We even did the Topsfield fair in Topsfield Ma. We did very well.
February of this year, my job ended. I was taking care of a elderly woman who ended up needing nursing home care.
Steve and I put our heads together, along with our money, knowledge and more and decided that we would open Stambry's Crescent Moon Soap Co Inc. at 1359 Hancock St. Quincy, Ma. 02169.
We officially opened on July 17th 2010. We are doing well. But it's been a lot of work.
